The Importance of Wedding Photography

The Importance of Wedding Photography

There are probably thousands of wedding photographers and you may be wondering why certain vendors charge what they do. Planning for a wedding is no small feat. When it comes to wedding photography, the value of your wedding photographer has to do with so much more than just taking snapshots of your wedding.

Wedding photography is a very unique and specialized genre of photography. Wedding photographers only get one chance of documenting your Big Day. While there’s nothing wrong with cutting corners on some wedding elements, consider investing in wedding photography. As you search for your perfect wedding photographer (which I hope is us), I created a few thoughts to keep in mind to make your wedding photographer a worthwhile investment that is everything you dreamed of:

  1.  Your wedding photographer will be your best friend before, during and after the wedding
If there’s one person you’ll spend most of your time with on your wedding, it would be your wedding photographer! From early morning preparations to a late night sparklers exit, we'll be there for you to hold your bouquet, fix your dress, and be an attentive shoulder to lean on – all while taking stunning wedding images as the day and beautiful moments unfold. However, your experience with the wedding photographer starts long before the Big Day comes. From the initial consultation, you should feel an instant connection. Here at Harold Feng Photography, we want to get to know you. We will sit down for your initial consultation with our favorite cocktail in hands and talk about you and your vision. We listen and take it all in to offer you our vision of your wedding photos – what photo locations you might like, what approach to your wedding photos we recommend, and what ideas we have for your future wedding album.

  2. Trusting your wedding photographer
Trusting your wedding photographer goes beyond knowing they’ll show up on time and delivering your wedding photos. It’s about trusting them with their creative direction and process. You should feel confident that they will not only take the must-have pictures of your bridesmaids or the cake but most importantly capture what’s unique about your wedding with our unique touch. While wedding planning might be something new to you, we are very experienced and know a thing or two about weddings. We will be your advocates throughout the whole process, from highlighting ideal photo locations to suggesting the most photogenic hotels to get ready in, we know exactly what photographs best. Lean on us when it comes to making decisions - no matter how big or small. It all begins with the connection and trust that we share with our couples.

  3. Your wedding photos will last a lifetime
With the exception of a few iPhone photographs your friends and family take during the day – your wedding photographer’s images are all that you have to remember your wedding day by. No matter how much you spend on flowers, food or booze, the one thing you get to keep and cherish forever are your photos.

This is ultimately why investing in someone whose work you believe in and who you’d totally see yourself hanging out with in real life is worth it!

Wedding Photography Guide

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Your special day will be filled with love, joy, and unforgettable moments, and you'll want to capture those memories with stunning photographs. To ensure that you get the best possible wedding photos, here is a wedding photography guide to help you prepare for the big day.

  1. Find the Perfect Photographer: Check this one off your list - thanks so much for booking us to be your wedding photographer. Choosing your wedding photographer is one of the most important steps in planning your dream wedding and without amazing clients like you, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do!

  2. Discuss Your Expectations: It's important to discuss your expectations with us ahead of time, so we know exactly what you're looking for. Talk about the types of photos you want, any must-have shots, and any particular poses or styles that you like.

  3. Create a Shot List: Make a list of all the shots you want us to capture on the day of the wedding. This will help ensure that no important moments are missed. I have a list of key images but always open to additional images you may want to cherish..such as images of your long lost great-great-second-removed-half-cousin.

  4. Allocate Time for Photos: Make sure to schedule enough time for photos on your wedding day. Discuss the timeline with us ahead of time, and make sure to leave plenty of time for posed shots, candid moments, and any other shots you want to capture.

  5. Consider the Lighting: Lighting is one of the most important factors in creating beautiful wedding photos. Talk to us about the lighting in your venue, and consider having your ceremony or portraits during the "golden hour" when the light is soft and romantic. We also carry our Speedlites (flash) so your pictures will always turn out stunning no matter how dark the venue or the evening gets.

  6. Relax and Have Fun: Your wedding day is a celebration of love, so don't forget to have fun! Relax, enjoy yourself, and trust us to capture all the beautiful moments of your day. Candid shots often capture the most genuine emotions and expressions.

  7. Choose Your Favourites: Once your photos are ready, take the time to choose your favourites. Create an album or display your favourites in your home to remember your special day.

Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and your photos will help you remember it for years to come. By following these tips, you'll be able to ensure that your wedding photos are beautiful, memorable, and a true reflection of your love.
